Hubble has captured the most detailed image to date of the open star cluster NGC 290 in the Small Magellanic Cloud. The image taken with the Advanced Camera for Surveys onboard the NASA/ESA Hubble Space Telescope shows a myriad of stars in crystal clear detail.
The star cluster NGC 2060 photographed by Hubble space telescope is a loose collection of stars that are no longer gravitationally bound to each other. The stellar grouping will disperse in a few million years. It contains a supernova that exploded about 10,000 years ago, blowing out gas surrounding it.
